Internationally acclaimed, James Talmadge’s art has been featured in hundreds of galleries throughout the United States, Canada, Western Europe and the Far East, where he has had over one hundred one-man exhibitions.
His paintings can be found in the collections of many celebrities, including Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, Andre Agassi, Louie Anderson, Steven Spielberg, Engelbert Humperdinck, Will Smith, Steven Spielberg, Alan Young, Brooke Shields, Elgen Baylor and others.
His works are also featured in the corporate collections of Atlantic Records, Doubleday Publishing, The Sony Corporation, Max Factor, JBL International, and the Hormel Corporation. Additionally, ABC, CBS and KCET employed the artist's talents in various creative endeavours.
Talmadge’s work is also on display in various museums around the world, including The Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, The Museum of Modern Art in Osaka, and The Museum of Contemporary Art in Jamaica.
His art has been featured on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and the Bill Cosby Show, and auctioned to raise thousands of dollars for such charities as The American Heart Association, , The American Diabetes Association, The John Wayne Cancer Center, Meals-on-Wheels, Cry Help, Free Arts for Abused Children, the Make-a-Wish foundation, and Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
Talmadge has appeared on major television and radio networks and has been featured in newspapers and magazines across North America and in Japan where he has been featured in television ads and interviews. His live painting demonstration during a cultural exchange program in Cuba in 2000 was broadcast around the world by CNN and Bravo TV. Moving beyond impressionism, Talmadge’s new works reveal the same strong vibrant colours he has always favoured, now blended with bold metallic and iridescent pigments and various media to create striking, highly textured works in the genre of abstract expressionism.
Born and raised in Southern California, Talmadge married Canadian doctor, Jane Hadley, and moved to Ottawa in 2001 where he continues to reside as a dual Canadian/US citizen. James Talmadge is 75 and still painting.
