“A knowledge, understanding and love for the subject is evident in the interplay of light and colour across his beautiful landscapes and gardens, while his hauntingly evocative trainscapes and industrial scenes, seem to transcend beyond the merely pictorial into a realm of mystery and atmosphere……..”
Peter was born in Birmingham England, in 1951. His family eventually moved to Staffordshire and there he discovered a love for the countryside and English landscape painting.
After completing his final year in high school, Peter went on to study at the Stafford College of Art, where he continued to develop his solid drafting skills and his sense of design. He then attended the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, England, to study fine art, painting and drawing.
With his formal education behind him, Peter continued his painting at his studio aboard a converted canal narrowboat. His love of landscape is evident in the interplay of color and light across his beautifully executed canvases. His industrial scenes combine an intuitive sense of color with fine draftsmanship to produce hauntingly evocative images.
Central to his fascination with railroads is his delight in the steam locomotive. A machine that seems somehow alive! A being of steel and power, strength and majesty!
Peter now lives in Canada, with Gail and their two children but spends several months every year in the United Kingdom. His works are held in many private collections in Canada, England and the United States. Some of his recent corporate collectors include Peat, Marwick and Thorne, Mead Johnson, The Royal Bank, OMERS, HRDC, Sirius Consulting, and the Toronto Stock Exchange.
